Maugham finally attempts an autobiography, too little and too late. These miserable ramblings were never published in book form.
Both Doubleday and Heinemann refused to print his vitriolic reminiscences of his wife, Syrie. This piece was the cause of his being
shunned by a number of his friends including Beverly Nichols and Noel Coward who felt he had defamed his ex-wife.
